In my internet travels, I came across an interesting article The Guy’s Guide to Geek Girls and while I found it quite entertaining I had a realization…I’m a semi-geeky girl.

1) Ivanova is God.
my answer: She’s not God, but she is pretty cool

2) Voyager is right, a woman’s place is the captain’s chair….
my answer: damn straight

3) The spandex in space phenomenon is evil…
my answer: damn straight

4) Every geek girl has had a crush on Han Solo or Luke Skywalker…
my answer: just as I was about to say..haha, not me - I realized that I did think Luke was pretty damn dreamy and Han had some qualities I would find most acceptable in a man - gosh I hate admitting that

5) [synopsis] feelings are just as important as shooting things [/synopsis]
my answer: that is true - that is very true. I like senseless shooting just as much as the next guy - but I do need to see a point somewhere.

6) Geeky girls like Spok better than Kirk…
my answer: never realized how true that is til now…I did like Spok a whole lot better

7) It is a nice thing when the brainy computer whiz kid is actually a girl for a change…
my answer: funny story actually - I was working on a small project and when I was finished, the client kept referring to me as “he” in his review - no we hadn’t met face to face - and I felt kinda nifty letting him know that I was a “she”

Pouty lips on Vulcan…
my answer: the sheer fact that I know what a Vulcan is, is just scary

Geeky Girl Appearance:

(I have been told I clean up well though)

Yes, us geeky women like gifts, but not just “normal” gifts. Flowers are quite loverly (thanks ****) and can make me feel special…but on the same token I am thinking to myself I would just as soon like to have a new graphics tablet, pda, or digital camera

Some other points which were brought up in the Girls’ Guide to Geek Guys also applied to me which scared me a bit too (but I won’t get into that)

So why am I only a semi-geek?
- I only have 2 computers - the computer I’m building doesn’t count cuz it’s not done yet.
- I have not set up my own server yet - that will happen when I build my new computer
- I only have Windows running on both my machines - well, until I get a powerbook
- I have no immediate plans to learn about Linux - until I build myself a server
- I have watched and (in a previous lifetime) enjoyed Star Trek, but, I have weened myself (quite well if I do say so myself)
- I used to like Star Wars (actually, still do) - but I did fall asleep during the most recent Star Wars movie (too much drama going on)
- I like video games - but I generally don’t play computer games (PS2 Rulez) which brings me to the next point
- I like PS2 instead of XBOX
- I like sci-fi - sci-fi is my favorite channel, there’s no excuse for that one - however, I do prefer horror
- I still like cool stuff (I think)
