Accidentally Downloaded the New Windows Media Player

I just finished downloading the Microsoft Media Player 10 (yes, I’m slow - considering, I generally adopt the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” philosophy, but it prompted me and I clicked yes before I realized what it asked…) and wouldn’t I be damned, I have a whole lot more MP3s on this computer than I realized (somewhere in the tune of 2,000 and change…)

The new media player autosearched my computer for media files to add to the library, located every single one and is playing them back for me - pretty dern nifty if I do say so…just finished listening to Breaking Benjamin’s So Cold and now we’re moving on to AFI’s Bleed Black and apparently next in line after that is Silver and Cold.

<side note> AFI is starting to grow on me - alot </side note>

I really like this sleek new interface, I didn’t realize how tired of looking at the old one I was, but this one is pretty cool. Apparently, there are a couple new buttons, so I’ll be playing around trying to figure out what each of them do…but it seems like it should be fun. Even their little icon has changed a little bit (not much and not very noticeable, but I’m a geek like that…)

Was the “Rip” button always there? And here I’ve been using third-party software to rip my CDs….

At Some Point I Had A Pig

Teli and her piggy

Apparently, at some point in my childhood, I had a pig - however - I do not remember this pig, nor ever being that age (about 3ish), but my daddy says it’s me and my pig - so I’m just going with it…

Come to think of it, I may have been traumatized or something and blocked it out…the last time I made friends with a farm animal in Jamaica, it ended up being served as dinner that same evening - not very cool.

Delayed Rebellion

When I was younger and growing up, there were many rules/regulations that I followed without question (don’t worry, I did break my share of rules, but for the most part I was considered a “little miss goody two shoes”) and one of those rules/regulations was not being able to have posters on my wall. Well, I could have posters on my wall, however it was limited to one poster per wall (i.e. 4 in total), they needed to be framed and they needed to match the overall decorum of the entire house.

The only books I was allowed to keep on my bookshelves were the hardcover books in pristine condition, the rest of my books (paperbacks included) needed to be kept in the closed off section of my bureau

I could personalize my room as long as it matched the decorum of the rest of the house. A self-made nametag on the front of my room door was about as creative as I could get.

I remember I would go to my friends’ house and get so jealous because they would have their beds unmade, clothes on the floor, books thrown wherever they wanted, and POSTERS!!! They could have any type of poster they wanted on their walls - boys, cars, bands, poetry, anything and everything - all unframed - just thumb-tacked or sticky-tacked up there. Heck, they could have anything they wanted on their walls…

Well, it’s taken me about 6 years, but I’ve finally decided to rebell. I put a poster up on my bedroom wall - frameless and sticky-tacked and it feels gooooood. Unfortunately, the poster sorta does go with the decorum of my home, but I look at it as rebellion in small doses. Of course, I’m sure this rebellion would have felt better if I were still in high school or living at home…

Sometimes Hollywood and Politics Just Don’t Mix…

why why why why why don’t you think before words come out of your mouth?

Now I Definitely Don’t Feel So Bad About Playing D&D

You know, I would never admit that I played Dungeons & Dragons and Freeze tag with my neighbors in high school (it was an “undercover” thing so the other kids wouldn’t think I was a geek/dork/nerd what have you), but after watching this - I no longer so feel bad.

I still can’t stop laughing - I sure hope I don’t get condemned to hell for this…

I am sooo happy for Toccara

I just watched an episode of America’s Next Top Model last night and I am so very glad to hear that Toccara gets to stay. She’s definitely representing for the big girls - now all I need is someone to represent for the “inbetween” girls - those who are too big to be skinny models and too small to be plus size models.

When Tyra was holding that last envelope and going on about the one who wants to stay but may be too big for the modeling industry and the one who may actually fit into the modeling industry but doesn’t want to say - my heart nearly skipped a beat. I had my fingers and toes crossed for Toccara and I almost jumped for joy, almost.

I’m not really warming up to Eva because she just has a little too much attitude for me, and my favorite so far is YaYa, but I think I’m biased because she’s a dancer. Amanda has really cool eyes, but she seems a little loopy, Ann seems like a very cool girl, but she lost a lot of kosher points with me when she sliced up that other girls’ expensive brownies…

Westciv CSS Competition

The results are in and although I didn’t win any grand prizes for my entry in the Style Master CSS competition, I am happy that I got an honourable mention :) and a free copy of their software and CSS guide - woohoo

An added bonus is that my template will be included in the upcoming version of Style Master. On another note, their software is pretty dern nifty and I’m not just saying that b/c I got it for free either…

Democrats Better Get Religion?

Okay, I decided to let this topic die on my blog simply because I hate politics…but WTF?!

“It appears that nationally the 4 million Christians that didn’t come out for the president in 2000 did,” said Bishop Keith Butler, pastor of Michigan’s largest black church, the 21,000-member Word of Faith International Christian Center in Southfield.

So what if Bush wasn’t Christian?

I was raised Baptist Christian and my family is very devout (I personally am not as devout as they are - hence the blasphemous heathen thing) - but not a single member of my family wanted to vote for Bush based on his track record, and I know I have morals and a belief system in place, but I’m not about to vote for a man simply because he believes in the same God I do either - there are other things to consider.

okay, that’s my last post on this subject before I have to create a “political” category…

Clarity

A reminder - half of us did vote for the other guy…and are really very sorry

I have been deliberately vague in many of my posts regarding the election (up until the election day) , so I think it’s time now for some clarity…

Am I religious? It depends on your definition of religious - I don’t attend mass (or church, or whatever) on a regular basis. I do pray and talk to God often. I don’t believe there is a real name for my “religion” - except maybe spirituality.

I’m sure that to some people I’m a blasphemous heathen who needs to be condemned to the pits of hell for 2 or more eternities, but to others I’m an angelic loving, caring, and giving force. Simply put, I try to live by a few simple rules, the golden one, harm no one, respect my fellow man, be thankful, and share.

Frankly, what I do and believe in (as long as it harms none) is no one’s business but mine and God’s (and the same goes for you too).

Morals/religion truly starts with and resides within the individual, (since I don’t know how to word this properly, it may come out wrong) - but anyone who expects one man (aka president, dictator, Dubbya) to bring them God and dictate what is right/wrong in the eyes of God is just a silly notion to me…

Does America, the nation, need a belief system - no. Do Americans as individuals need a belief system - yes. Is anyone justified in dictating what the belief system should be - no. My opinion only.

With the whole moral/religious issue aside (for me anyway) - it left my eyes open enough to look at Bush’s character, what’s he’s done in the past 4 years and what he can potentially do in the next 4 years…

I voted for Kerry - I know he wasn’t going to be the end all of presidents in my opinion, but he was the lesser of two evils…

Yes, I thought about fleeing to another nation, but I remember the struggles my mother went through to get me here. This is where I grew up, and I still love my country, however I don’t feel as safe and secure here as I used to…maybe it’s just because I’m getting older and my eyes are being opened to the ills of the world - who knows…

I wish it had turned out differently, but it didn’t. Time to pick ourselves up, brush ourselves off, and push forward.

Yet another quiz…
