Yea…that’s about it…

I Really Did Like Alicia Keys

until I saw this…I felt a tear, no lie. It was ever so small, and I’m not yet sure if it’s because it hurt to see it or if I was just laughing too hard. Either way, it’s a crying shame.

And even worse – she has it in red too – WTF?

I think she needs more honest people around her. Honest (good) people are the ones that will say “hun, don’t leave your house in that, please – save yourself some dignity” (hell, even some nice strangers…)

I know I would not have let her out in public like that – her publicist or whomever needs to be fired.

UPDATE: She also has it in black and purple

And to echo one commenter’s thoughts…apparently, ugly does come in all shades.

So Far This Season of ANTM Isn’t So Bad – Could Be Better Though

One of the models passed out – right there – on t.v. – everyone gawking. One of the judges was screaming to dial 911 and the other models were just standing their jaws on the ground not doing a **** thing – nice job girls…

Now, while I’m no show horse myself, I’m starting to think the quality of ladies that are making it into the final running is starting to slip. While I’m a huge fan of unique looks and all, I have to question Tyra’s judgment.

This season, I like Naima (I absolutely love that hair!), Tiffany (oddly enough, she kinda looks like my sister, and she’s from down the street from me – well, more like 10 miles…), Sarah (she’s just straight sexy, at least she was with long hair), Keenya (how can I not like a girl who is my height?) – the rest of the girls? I could care less if they were let go tomorrow.

I’m kinda disappointed there’s no girl representin’ for the big boned ladies, it would also be nice if there was a model representin’ for the “in-between” ladies too (the ones that are too small for plus size and too big for haute couture – i.e. women of average body proportions).

I am kinda surprised that the porn star didn’t get sent home, I thought for sure they were gonna boot her – however, listening to the other girl‘s parting words, I fully understand why she was let go.

Not two seconds after Tyra says “if you don’t believe in yourself, then we don’t” and you come out with something like “all my life I’ve been the ugly duckling and they’ve just proven I’m right” girl, you need to look at this as a stepping stone.

Instead of turning your dismissal into something negative, it should have been something along the lines of “I can’t believe I was selected out of God only knows how many women to appear on ANTM, and I made it this far – I guess I’m not really that much of an ugly duckling after all – maybe I do have a shot at this modeling thing” – did you not hear a **** thing Tyra said? I guess some people just don’t get it. You can’t give someone self esteem unless they want it. Bye Sarah, I actually liked you.

I hate to admit it, but I kinda miss playing basketball

The question “do you play basketball?” used to be the bane of my existence (actually, it still is somewhat) because it was always the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd question people asked after meeting me for the first time.

But now that I haven’t played in a few years, I’m actually starting to miss it. Too bad I don’t have high ceilings or a driveway anymore. Man I wish the park were closer to my home…

It’s Nice To Be Wanted – I Think

While checking my stats, something interesting popped up. It seems that my name is floating around on the internet and people want to find out more about me – namely, where I live.

I don’t know whether to be freaked out or flattered or what – but being someone who’s had an undercover stalker or five in her lifetime, I’m not keen on finding:

“telian adlam country” in my stats. I don’t mind too much about this one because they’re doing a country search – that’s pretty broad.

Since it’s pretty much out there any way and someone is obviously curious – I was born in Jamaica. I am currently located in the United States of America. I am now officially a Jamerican citizen.

But it will definitely worry me if I start seeing terms such as “telian adlam address, phone number, favorite hang outs, grocery store, etc.” – so with that in mind, if you have any other pressing curiosities about me – please ask – I don’t bite unless I have to :) .

Firefox Spyware Infects IE!

Well, not really, despite what some news site (and I use the term loosely) are reporting.

According to Mike:

If you were to believe several online news sites, there is an epidemic of spyware infecting Internet Explorer by way of Firefox. If you were also to believe that these accounts were written by competant journalists who have checked their facts, you would be wrong on both counts. [ source ]

And I’d be inclined to agree with him after reading the articles on both sites that he referenced (however the first was a little less misleading – but only slightly).

Both seem to gloss over the fact that this is a problem with clueless people with java installed and running who click “yes, please install some scary neverending pain in the ass crap on my computer because, even though a big fat warning just popped up telling me that someone somewhere wants to install some software from an untrusted source onto my computer and I have no idea what this software does or is, I’m curious and I don’t mind spending the next lifetime cleaning the sh*t off my computer after it gets boned” when their computer prompts them with a security alert.

Am I being too harsh, wouldn’t common sense dictate that if something pops up asking to install stuff from an unknown source onto your computer, you’d want to say “no” at least until you could figure out who and what is going to be installed?

Maybe I’m just moody or something…

Dumbass…

Matt, you are a dumbass

Thank You’s Are In Short Supply

I’ve noticed lately that saying “thank you” seems to be in short supply nowadays. Growing up, my parents always told me to “mind my manners, respect my elders, and never forget to say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’” – and I have to admit, I’ve been a little guilty of not heeding this sage advice.

So, I’m here to correct that and catch up on a few thank you’s. I believe that when a person does good things, good things happen. People have done so many good things and I’ve not slowed down enough to realize it, embrace it, or acknowledge it – so for that I am sorry:

Aaron Wall and Tanya – thank you both. Tanya had a contest on her forum a while ago and I was able to win a copy of Aaron’s wonderful SEO Book. It’s a book that I’ve been meaning to purchase for a while now, but I always put it off b/c I knew I didn’t have the time to set down and read it. Now, I have it and I’ve not finished reading it all the way through because I’m still that busy, but I’m chunking away some time this weekend specifically for this purpose.

Westciv (Maxine Sherrin and John Allsopp) – thank you both. I entered their CSS competition a while back and received an honourable mention. As a consolation, I received a free copy of their wonderful Style Master software (my CSS cheat sheet). They just sent me the recently released version 4.0 and I am ever so grateful because it saves me loads of time coding – and not only that, it has my template in there :) – woo and hoo.

Lynn and Andre – thank you both. I would have gladly continued paying for the membership at TIID because I feel the information and support offered in your community is awesome. You really surprised me by asking me, of all people, to be an advisor. I’m still in disbelief. I still feel like a complete noob some days LOL, but it’s wonderful to know that I’m able to help others and share what I’ve learned with them and I appreciate your giving me a forum to do so openly.

The fine folks at Adadio Tea – thank you. Your ingenuiTEA is awesome and your tea is excellent. I am now officially addicted to the mango tea which I can only describe as being Bubblicious in tea form :) . You are definitely ranking up there with Stash.

The Un-named One – thank you. You keep me in the movie loop and it’s always appreciated. You talk to me when the world sucks and listen to me bitch and cry and whine. Now, if that ain’t a friend, I don’t know what is :D . Despite our trauma and our problems, you are someone I would always want in my life, please take care of yourself. And I promise, I will get your package off in the mail – soon.

Ma famille – thank you. Thank you for dragging my ass out of the house when I just want to crawl under my comforter and hide. Thank you for supporting me in my dreams and goals and just being there. As broken as we may be in the eyes of some people, we still have a nice little family and it’s more than some people are lucky enough to have. So, I am certainly grateful.

My blog readers (you know who you are) – thank you. When I first started this blog, it was to let my friends and family (eh hem, when they figure out “how to work the internet”) know what I’m up to and how I’m doing. Instead, I’m finding that other people read my blog too. At first it was mighty scary knowing that people were seeing my inner thoughts, but as time continued and you’ve commented and emailed, I realized that you are people too, with different perspectives and I appreciate your time, your concern, and your presence.

I know there are some thank you’s I may be forgetting – so, to cover those bases – thank you, a million times, thank you.

IE 4.01 Isn’t Dead Yet?

I was just checking my webstats and while MSIE 6.0 is still fairly prominent, and MSIE 5.5 is dying out slowly – what surprised me the most was seeing MSIE 4.01* pop up. I could have sworn this browser died a slow and horrible death years ago – but then again, I could be wrong.

I know my site looks like crap run over twice in that browser (heck, it looks like crap run over once in IE 6), but I don’t plan to start coding for it, that’s for sure.

* I should probably note that it’s an AOL user still on 4.0…now I’m really curious, what would stop someone from upgrading their version of AOL? I figure, everyone should be running the latest (or at least 6.0) with the amount of junk CDs they send out in the mail every week.
