Today has been a day…mild rant lay ahead.
I was supposed to have my bathroom re-done. The guy who was contracted to do the job seemed a little flaky when I first met him, but I understand how stressful business can be when you have a lot of work to do, so I figured it was just a one time case of bad time management on his part.
When he finally did show up for his first scheduled appointment (i.e. to survey the bathroom and give an estimate) I swear he looked like he stepped straight out of the Soprano’s t.v. show with his unbuttoned shirt and slicked back hair complete with New York accent - all he was missing was a whole lot of gold chains and a concealed weapon. Despite all that, contracts were signed and I thought I was gonna get a new bathroom in a few days time…until all the excuses and delays started.
I thought the heavens had finally smiled down upon me when he called Wed. to schedule the ‘demolishon’ for today 8am-12n. I stayed up all night getting as much of my work done as possible so I wouldn’t be disturbed by the noise and I’d be able to take the morning off.
I didn’t get to bed until 3am and turned around to wake up at 6am specifically so I could prepare for him and he didn’t show. He didn’t even call me until 10am to explain he wouldn’t be able to make it until after 12noon - WTF?? If this was the first transgression, I could let it go as I consider myself an extremely patient person, however, this was his 6th (not to mention the time he was supposed to start, but cancelled and never even called me to let me know).
If it wasn’t one thing it was another, but now, here it is 3 weeks later and still no sign of having a bathroom remodelled in my forseeable future. I just had to let him go. Now, I’m left with an empty bathroom and I’m singing ‘where have all the good contractors gone’. Gaaa, what a day. At least I got all my work done for the weekend so I can focus on my personal projects.
