It seems I’ve taken up a new hobby — negotiating with referrer spammers, or rather – the people who sign their affiliate checks.

My .htaccess is busting with denied websites and my websites are still overflowing with referrer spam sites…it’s annoying to say the least, so, on a whim, I decided to click on one of those ‘contact us’ link and under the rouse of having a problem accessing my account, I plead my case.

I politely asked the referrer spammers to remove me from their software because it was a bad business choice to keep my site on it.

Well – I actually received a reply! (BTW, I set up a brand new email address just in case it makes its way onto any spam lists). It seems that some of the sites referrer spamming me are indeed affiliate sites.

I was just so surprised that I got a reply, from a person, asking for more info (which I promptly provided)…wow. I’ll continue to keep you updated on how my negotiations go and if it does have an impact on the amount of referrer spam I get.
