Sisters Are Good People

I was talking to my sister last night about what she wanted for her birthday and thinking about it just now made me smile.

Me: Wow, I can’t believe it’s almost your birthday.
Sissie: Me either.
Me: wow.
Sissie: What?
Me: You’re almost 36.
Sissie: 35!!
Me: Oops, sorry, I meant 35. Wow, 35.
Sissie: What?
Me: I was just thinking that one day I’m going to be that old.
Sissie: wha…thanks.

I really didn’t mean it the way it sounded; her birthday just reminded me of being 8 when becoming a teenager, let alone thirty something, was simply unfathomable.

We both got a good chuckle out of it. Sisters really are good people - they keep you young :).

Oh Yes, FFAW Is Over

I forgot to actually close FFAW yesterday…ooops - thank you to those who stopped by and left their thoughts (Barbara, Phill, Russ, and EndlessTrail) - it is most appreciated.

I’ll actually pay attention this month and open FFAF on time :)

Reading Serenity

I first learned about Firefly a few months ago when a friend sent me the series on DVD. One rainy day when I had little else to do, I decided to pop in the DVDs and have myself a Firefly-o-thon.

I didn’t know what the movies/series was about when I inserted the first DVD, but once it began a vague memory of the previews for the series came back to me and I thought to myself “hey, I wanted to watch that…”, but of course, I never did (sorry Joss).

After watching every episode, I knew something had to be amiss when they left me hanging and figured a DVD had to be missing. I really wanted to find out what was up with River, the secret behind Book (because we all know he’s not a real Shepherd), and whether Mal and Inara actually got past their differences, admitted they loved each other and got together.

But no, nothing was actually wrong - at least not with my DVDs. I watched the commentary to find out the show had been cancelled after only 11 of their 15 episodes and that left a sore spot. One can only imagine how excited I was to hear of Serenity coming to theatres.

Unlike the true die hard fans of the series, I wasn’t at the theatre when it came out Friday, but I’m glad I wasn’t. Today while shopping with my sister I came across a book…yes, you guessed it - Serenity. I had no idea they wrote a book — now I get to read the it before I see the movie (my personal preference).

I’ll be sure to let you all know how the reading goes and then, whether the movie lives up to its textual counterpart (I’m sure it will seeing as though the book is based on the screenplay).

Autumn Love

teli! Here I am! So very late, but here I am! ::grins::
And I’m here to tell you about my love for Autumn. Ahhhhh. Autumn. ::smiles::

I adore Autumn. The weather turns cool, the leaves change to gorgeous oranges and reds. The air is crisp and clean. It’s just absolutely gorgeous all the time.

And! Autumn has my favorite holiday of all. All Hallow’s Eve. I adore that holiday. I don’t know if it is the history behind it, the fun I have always had on that day, or just hte very energy it holds. In any event, I adore the day so very much. I love to dress up, even though I am getting near 30. But who cares? It’s still very fun. ::smiles::

Autumn is a great time for going on bike rides, for roller blading, for picnics outside. Snuggling with a loved one while watching a sunset (or sunrise! *waggles brows*).

So love this season. (=

PS - thank you, teli, for that lovely recipe for a spaghetti sandwich. I will stalk you for those brownies. Yes, I will. ::giggles::

You’re not alone

Hey teli,

First off, thanks for posting on my blog.

Relax. Technically, you’re not the only one who has a Free for All Weekend. For probably three months in a row already, I’ve kept the FFAF open for at least an extra day, although I’ve stuck to the same name.

For me, it’s the timezones. I’m 7 hours ahead of GMT, and that makes it probably 14 hours ahead of all you living in the US. Thus, for the benefit of the participants, I just open my blog up starting from Friday till a good part of Saturday. Doesn’t cost me anything, so why not?
