WB – What Were You Thinking?

I don’t know whether to cry or throw up.

This week’s episode of Smallville is over, but that’s not what made me sick – the huge AOL logos splashed everywhere are.

Has no one informed the people at The WB that AOL sucks? If not, here’s a memo: AOL sucks.

Please stop trying to resuscitate AOL; just let it die its slow and agonizing death in peace.

Please.

Well, That Sucks

I like the WB. I like UPN. I like them for very different reasons.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) – Warner Brothers and CBS Corp. announced plans Tuesday for the creation of a new broadcast television network, called CW, that would replace the WB and UPN networks in the fall of this year.

The new broadcast network will draw on programming from both WB and UPN, and will be a joint venture between Warner Bros. and CBS (Research), with each company owning 50 percent, officials of both companies said. (The “C” stands for CBS, the “W” is for Warner.)

A merger between the two makes me a little uneasy. But, as long as none of my favourite shows get lost in the shuffle, I’ll be peachy.

I Now Understand All The Fuss

Pandora is awesome. I didn’t quite get all the fuss I’ve been hearing about it (didn’t even know what it was) lately, but after taking a quick visit today, I can say I understand now.

If you haven’t gone to Pandora – stop whatever you’re doing right now. Just stop it. Seriously. And go.

You can thank me later.

Did Anyone Else Notice?

If you’re not a fan of the Gilmore Girls, you can probably stop reading now.

On last night’s episode of the Gilmore Girls, did the mother of Luke’s child look familiar? If not, then you’ve not been paying close enough attention.

Remember Jess? Yes, the bad boy that Rory used to date. He ran away to visit his father in California and was greeted by a blonde haired, free spirited woman.

If you guessed that the woman dating Jess’ father (and who also had the little girl that liked to read in a closet) is also the mother of Luke’s little girl – then you’d guess right.

I wonder if the WB thought no one would notice? Or, if there’s something else going on there.

Hmmm…

The Human Stain…

Finally saw the movie and it has only reaffirmed my belief that under no circumstances should a person ever see a movie before reading the book. Ever.

Even with its stellar cast (well, Anthony Hopkins and Gary Sinise) the movie was still doomed. It left me wanting to ask for my money back (too bad I saw it on satellite television), and compensation for the hour and a half of my life wasted watching it.

But in their defense, the book itself was lacking. Better than the movie, yes, but lacking nonetheless.

spreading some joy

This. Is. Awesome! Wait for it to load and enjoy – it’s sure to put you in the holiday spirit :D

Black Eyed Peas – Videobloggin’ It

Hmmm…everytime I hear about BEP now, I keep remembering that incident Fergie had on stage (you know, the one where they claim she was just “sweating” heavily)…but I still love their music.

Anyhoo, now there’s something else to love about them (well, if you’re into that type of thing) – it seems that the Black Eyed Peas have a video blog.

First Beta and Now VHS?

Apparently by this time next year, movie companies will stop releasing new movies on VHS…DVD all the way. Seriously…what is the world coming to?

And on a completely random tangent…it appears our local paper has a weblog…er, weblogs, plural…powered by MovableType of all things…with comments enabled (don’t they know about comment spam?)… the cane’s blog seems pretty popular. The commenters are revolting on the movie blog…because, foolishly, they believe a movie blog should be a blog about movies.

If you were paying close attention, you may notice the lack of linky love for the Florida Panthers…that’s because the Panthers just aren’t important enough to have a real blog – they get the test blog.

I Got Riverdance!

I’ve been working all day today and finally decided to take a break – from that and all this hurricane hubbub.

There’s nothing quite like Riverdance to pick up a person’s spirits (yes, I admit it, I like Riverdance). I first saw it on Bravo a few years back and now finally have the DVD – yay.

Now, before any of you smirk or laugh, some of today’s hip hop dances and step moves were actually inspired by the traditional Irish dance (well, with a little more arm movement)…

I have a sneaking suspicion

That tonight’s episode of OTH was sponsored by Apple. I don’t know exactly what gave it away, but I think it has something to do with the one sentence definition of a Podcast, “…can download and listen to it on their ipods.”

Well then. Last time I checked, a podcast was just an MP3 (or other comparable audio file format) that could be downloaded and listened to in any compatible music/MP3 player.

It’s interesting how times are changing I can’t even watch my favorite shows without hearing the word “blog” or “podcast” mentioned now, but a few months ago when I said “I’m blogging this” I’d be met with bewildered glances.

I guess it means I should bite the bullet and actually do a podcast (or rather, an audio blog entry – Apple did not sponsor this blog post.)

Aside from the small bit of geekery, I liked tonight’s episode and I offer you all my prediction: I think Whitey did it.

Snuck in there and set Dan on fire. To be quite honest, I was surprised Dan didn’t burst into flames when he set foot in the church in last week’s episode. I was honestly expecting him to and I would not have been surprised. I’ve always been taught that Lucifer couldn’t enter a church…and if Dan’s character is anything, it’s evil incarnate.

But as for who actually drugged him and set his dealership on fire – Whitey. Seriously. Either him or Karen‘s beau who we haven’t yet seen this season.
